My niece and nephew's birthdays are only six days apart so my sister decided to have a combined birthday celebration for her kids this year. We were able to keep the decor gender neutral by creating a pink, aqua, yellow and brown color scheme an opting for a monkey-theme birthday celebration.
First I designed the invitations, address labels and t-shirts.
Then I created a printable file for party circles, which we then used to make cupcake toppers, party hats, and to decorate drinking cups and goody-bags.
We used an enlarged version of the party circles to create t-shirts for the birthday kids using iron-on transfers. Then we printed a couple of the larger circles on paper to decorate a yellow piñata which previously featured an image of Sponge Bob. For a quick fix, my sister covered the image with white card stock, then she pasted an enlarged monkey cirlce on each side of the piñata. The girl monkey on side, and the boy monkey on the other.
My sister also found a jumbo sized safari theme coloring book which included a gorilla holding banana in one of the pages. She colored the page and cut it out of the book. Then she created bananas out of yellow construction paper which we used for a quick game of "pin the banana on the monkey".
The party decor would not have been complete without out the matching banner, would it? With just a few quick modifications to the invitation layout, I created a banner to decorate the wall where the cupcakes and gifts where placed.
The birthday party was a complete success and the night ended with us big kids "going bananas" on the jumper!
The entire "Going Bananas" Monkey-theme birthday set is now available for purchase through my websites at PaisleyInParis.com and PaisleyInParis.Etsy.com
