New: Japanese Kokeshi Doll Note Cards

Hi there! Santa was very kind to me this year and brought me the one thing that has been on my list for several years now - an Intuos Pro Wacom tablet!

This is my first illustration created using the tablet. It was inspired by little niece, Asami. Her daddy is Japanese, mommy (my sister) is Mexican-American, and little Asamichan is just gorgeous!

My new Japanese Kokeshi Doll design is now available in my Zazzle shop, where you'll find it on note cards, blank greeting cards, compact mirrors (great flower girl gift), iPad mini protective cases, stickers and magnets!

So happy I'll be off work for the next few days, which will give me a chance to stay home, play a bit more with my tablet and add a few more designs to my shop.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

I liked the pink watercolor background I used for the Dia de Los Muertos mint tins that I talked about a few weeks ago, so I decided to use it again on my first MATS (Make Art That Sells) homework assignment. The assignment was to create two Christmas card designs and pick only one to submit for review. This  Floral Christmas Tree is the one I liked most out of my two creations, but interestingly enough, it's not the one I submitted. (More on that later). 

In order to give Christmas a "fresh" look, I went with a floral and hearts pattern on the tree and a doodle background with more faint hearts, geometric shapes and swirls. I also took a stab at hand lettering, not my forte, but definitely something I'm interested in mastering. My design wouldn't be complete without a pop of color, so I added shades of green that were sure to stand out against this pretty pink watercolor. I like the feminine and whimsical look that I achieved, but even more than that, I liked that it's different from anything I've seen in retail, so I didn't hesitate to add it to the shop.

Handcrafted Money and Gift Card Holder: Love You

This beautiful aqua shimmer pocketfold from the Envelopments® collection was embellished with a combination of scrapbooking and recycled paper. I hand-stamped the image of a heart with wings and the words "Love You" underneath, and colored the heart pink with a gel pen. I then used used a square paper punch to cut out the image and paste it onto a piece of metallic silver card stock to create a border around it.
The pink scrapbooking paper on the background has a bit of a glitter sparkle in the center of each flower. Inside the pocket, I included a blank piece of white card stock where you can handwrite a personal message along with your cash gift or gift card.

Owl Holiday Greetings

I must admit I'm horrible at sending out holiday cards. I make them every year, and very rarely do my family and friends receive one. I'm on a mission to change that this year! I also decided I would send out holiday postcards which create less waste by omitting an envelope, and they cost less to ship being that postage for postcards costs less than postage for letters and greeting cards.
